Privacy
Your privacy comes first, by design.
TransitCrafter never asks for your name or a password. Sign in with a one-time email code to make your reports count more and keep your history. This page says plainly what we store, what we do not, and for how long.

At a glance
Just an email code
You never give a name, phone number or password. Sign in with an emailed code to make your reports count more.
No selling, no ads
We do not sell data or email addresses, and we do not run advertising or tracking cookies. Any future partner message is opt-in and never uses your address.
30 days
Hashed network identifiers are cleared after 30 days.
What we store
What you post
The pin or line, the category and the text you write. This is public so others can back it, so never include personal details.
Your support
A vote and, if you choose, how often you would ride. It is shown only as totals and is never tied to a name.
A hashed network identifier
A one-way hash, not your address, used to rate-limit and to spot many votes from one place. Cleared after 30 days.
Your account
If you sign in, we keep your email address so you can get back in on a new phone and so we can send you a code, a notice when a new device signs in, and a note when something you posted changes. It is never shown to anyone and never shared or sold. Your devices and recent security events are listed on your account page, and you can export your data or delete your account there. The export includes your points, offer codes and timers. When you delete your account, your email, points and offer codes are removed. Ideas and votes you made earlier stay, under an anonymous identifier that is retired and can never be linked to you or claimed again.
Anonymous page statistics
Aggregate page views through Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not follow you across sites.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form we keep your message, your email and an unreadable fingerprint of your connection to stop spam. We delete them after a few months.
A device record
When the app first opens we note the day, and a signed marker kept in your browser lets us recognise the same device when it returns. It holds no personal details.
Approximate location
When you share your location with a vote or a report, we keep whether you were near and roughly how far away you were, in meters, but never where you were. If you give a postal area, we keep a one-way hash of it, never the text.
What stays on your device
Your browser keeps a few small settings so the app feels continuous. None of them leaves your device as a tracker.
- Your language choice
- Whether you have seen the welcome screen
- An unfinished idea, so you can come back to it
- A random device ID and edit keys, so you can manage what you posted
- One signed cookie, kept for a year, that only confirms this is the same device. It is not used for advertising or tracking across sites. Staff receive a second one to sign in.
Photos you add
Photos are optional. We handle them more carefully than anything else on the site, because a picture can show people and private places.
Private first: a photo is hidden from everyone except you and the moderators until a moderator approves it.
Safe to show: photos with recognisable faces, number plates or private property are never shown publicly. They may stay as private evidence for planners, or be rejected.
Compressed and cleaned: we shrink every photo and remove its hidden camera data, time and GPS before storing it.
You stay in control: your location is checked once and only the distance to the pin is kept. Withdraw a photo any time; rejected photos are deleted straight away.
Your choices
Posted something by mistake?
If a post includes personal details, report it. A person reviews reports and can hide the post.
Want to clear everything?
If you are not signed in, clear this site’s data in your browser settings and the app forgets this device. If you are signed in, use Delete account on your account page.
Questions about method?
The rules for counting support and the live numbers are public on the How it works page.
Not an official Winnipeg Transit or City of Winnipeg service. Do not post emergencies here.
